MARKETING CONSULTING / CLEARER DECISIONS

Find the highest-leverage move before buying another tactic.

Marketing consulting that starts by finding what is actually limiting growth, rather than assuming it is whatever we happen to sell. Sometimes the honest answer is that your marketing is fine and the constraint is somewhere else entirely.

ANSWER IN BRIEF

What Marketing Consulting means at Carbide.

Carbide marketing consulting diagnoses the constraint actually limiting growth — discovery, conversion, spend, vendors or process — then builds a marketing strategy around it and ends with a short ordered list of decisions rather than a deck.

01 THE OPPORTUNITY

Most marketing consulting starts with a solution and works backwards. The useful version starts with the constraint — the one thing that, unblocked, makes everything else work better — and it is often not a marketing problem at all.

02 IN DEPTH

How marketing consulting actually works.

Find the constraint before buying another tactic

The default move when results go flat is to add something. More ads, a new tool, another vendor. It rarely helps, because it does not touch whatever is actually limiting growth.

A store that cannot be found has a visibility problem. A store with plenty of traffic and no appointments has a conversion problem. A store with leads nobody calls back has neither — it has an operations problem, and no marketing strategy fixes that.

Adding tactics without knowing which of those is true is how budgets grow while results do not.

End with decisions, not a deck

The test of marketing consulting is whether anything actually changes afterward. Most engagements produce a thorough document that gets read once and filed.

What is useful is short: three decisions, in order, with what each is worth and what it takes. Then a plain statement of what is not worth doing — the part almost nobody includes.

If you cannot summarize the recommendation to your GM in one sentence, the work was not finished.

The uncomfortable findings are the valuable ones

The most useful conclusions are the ones nobody selling marketing wants to reach. Your vendors are fine. Your spend is reasonable. The problem is that leads sit for four hours before anyone calls.

Those findings are worth more than another campaign, and they are exactly the ones a vendor reviewing their own work will never produce.

Being willing to say the engagement should be small, or should not continue at all, is the only real proof that the advice is independent.

03 THE SYSTEM

Diagnose, prioritize, activate.

01

Find the constraint

Diagnose before prescribing. The marketing consulting question is which single bottleneck is holding back growth, not which services could be sold.

02

Build the strategy around it

A marketing strategy aimed at that constraint, sequenced so the first move unblocks the rest — not a list of everything that could be improved.

03

Make it decidable

Recommendations somebody can act on Monday, with what each is worth and what it costs. Strategy nobody can execute is a document, not advice.

04 SCOPE

What the work can include.

Every engagement is shaped around the business, current systems and highest-value decisions. The scope is explicit before execution begins.

  • 01Marketing strategy review
  • 02SEO and content direction
  • 03Media and budget analysis
  • 04Vendor selection and negotiation
  • 05Website conversion review
  • 06Measurement planning
  • 07AI opportunity assessment
  • 08Implementation roadmap

05 THE RESULT

A strategy the organization can actually operate.

A clear next move

You finish knowing what to do first and why, instead of holding a list of thirty things nobody will get to.

Spend that makes sense

Line items nobody can justify get named, and the ones doing real work get defended.

An honest read

Including when the answer is that the marketing strategy is sound and the real constraint is operational.

06 QUESTIONS

Clear answers.
No black box.

Do you offer one-time marketing consulting?+

Yes. Engagements can begin with a focused analysis or strategic project and expand only when ongoing support creates value.

Can you review agency and vendor contracts?+

Carbide can review scope, performance expectations, overlap and strategic fit, then support selection or negotiation decisions.

Do you consult outside automotive?+

Yes. The same systems approach applies to retailers, local businesses and organizations navigating complex marketing and technology choices.

How does a consulting engagement usually start?+

With a focused review of the current system to find the real constraint, followed by a prioritized set of decisions and owners. It can stay project-based or expand into ongoing support only when that adds value.

Will we get a strategy we can actually operate?+

That is the goal. The output is sharper choices, clear ownership and a practical roadmap — not a presentation that sits unused. Each recommendation names the action, owner, measure and dependency.

Can you help us decide whether to hire or outsource?+

Yes. Part of the work is matching capabilities to the organization's stage — what belongs in-house, what fits a specialist and where a vendor is the constraint rather than the solution.

What areas does marketing consulting cover?+

Common focus areas include marketing strategy, channel and budget allocation, vendor and technology decisions, measurement, and how the marketing function is organized — scoped to the decisions that matter most for the business right now.
